Output Gain
What's the best way to increase the TR88's overall output gain? When I record through an Echo Layla into Sonar on the PC, the volume isn't high enough--about -12. I'm getting a good preamp, but it only has 2 channels, and I plan to run the drum L and R in individual outputs 3 and 4 through the preamp and the rest of the tracks from the stereo 1 and 2 outs directly into the sound card's interface.
I could use the EQ to boost all 4 bands, and that works, but doesn't seem to be the optimal solution.
Any hints?

What an innovative solution! I'll try that, and hope when I route the drums to 3 and 4 individual outs that they don't also show up in the main mix from the headphones. Thanks!

Re: Output Gain
Check if your soundcard allows to switch between -10 and +4db input gain. It is possible to get higher signal. If this isn't enough, simply normalize audio in Sonar after recording. If you don't want to do destructive editing, adjust "Gain" slider.Shredder wrote:What's the best way to increase the TR88's overall output gain? If it ain't broken, don't fix it!
Good point, thanks! I don't remember if I checked that or not. I guess this issue is just part of the design of the TR88 and I have to do a work around.
