cannot copy patches to microkorg

whenever i try and paste a patch onto my microkorg using the microkorg editor it says something along the lines of "error can't overwrite the device"

what does this mean? does anyone know a fix to this?

Turn off memory protection on the Microkorg. To do this, hold down SHIFT and press the 8 pad. Then turn knob 1 until the display reads "OFF". Hit SHIFT to exit this mode. You should be able to write patches now.
