padkontrol and alphabet soup

I haven't been able to get the program "alphabet soup" to work with the padkontrol using the midi learn function. it works fine with my oxygen8 keyboard but for some reason, it doesn't work with the padkontrol. any suggestions?

system: macbook on os 10.5.2
