Microkorg and USB MIDI

I apologize ahead of time as I'm sure this has been covered on this forum before but I couldn't find an answer through the search function.

I'm trying to connect my MicroKorg to a Windows Vista comp via this USB-MIDI cable: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0211053073

There are three lights on the cable: Red, yellow, and green. I've connected the MIDI IN & OUT to the PC but the light is red and the softsynths and the MicroKorg Editor are not detecting the keyboard. The only driver I've installed is the one that automatically starts when you plug a new USB into vista.

Is there some sort of setting for the MicroKorg that puts it into MIDI mode? I've turned the Edit Select 2 to midi but that doesn't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

What's the brand name of the MIDI device?
Hop on that site and look for the proper drivers.

The link is to the USB MIDI cable I bought on Ebay. The cable only says USB MIDI on it and came with no instructions, drivers, or brand name, which is why I posted that link. It says the drivers are built in. Here are the specs if the link doesn't work

Set Up: I plugged the MIDI IN & OUT to the back of my MicroKorg, plugged the USB end into the back of my comp, turned Edit Select 2 to MIDI.

When I run the MicroKorg Editor it says "Error: No Device Found, Check MIDI Device Setting." Could it be that this is just a bad chord? If so what would you guys recommend as far as MIDI set ups go. I have to MIDI on my computer and am using Soundblaster X-fi.

the uno is f*ck*ng badass. I use it for guitar related stuff.

have you got the "IN" on the cable connected to the "OUT" on your keyboard? and vice versa?

are you using a powered USB port? or are you running through an unpowered hub?

Sounds like you may need to drivers for the cable. I recently had similar problems. I thought you could just plug and play with the USB but that was not the case. Only after installing the drivers for the cable AND rebooting my machine was I able to get this to work.

Out To goes into the MicroKorg's MIDI in port and ditto for the INs.

On the DAW it should show up as a possible MIDI settings choice in whatever apps you use.

Upon launching the editor, it's going to look for the Micro and once you set up the Ins and Outs and turn off the write protect in the MicroK you should be good to go.
