Using one MIDI controller for two appliances?

Post by Argus »

hi again.
is it possible to use a MIDI keyboard with knobs and sliders, such as a MicroKontrol to control two MIDI applications at once?

specifically, I want to control the keyboard parts of the electribe with the keyboard via a MIDI cable, but use the knobs and faders for Traktor via USB.

is this possible? and if so, how?

yes there are a couple ways you can do this... first, the mkontrol is usb so the easiest way would be to map knobs to tractor, and then pass all your midi from microkontrol port a to microkontrol out with midi ox. then use a midi cable to go from microkontrol out to electribe in.

thanks for the reply. my concern, however, is that the ESX will recieve all the knob and slider MIDI as well, not just the keyboard data. I want to avoid that when I use a knob for something inside Traktor, some parameter of the ESX changes as well. so would I use the MIDI application to divide the MIDI messages between the computer and the ESX?

I use a mac, btw. can I do what you described with MidiPipe as well? and how, exactly, do I do that?
