The different in price is huge(if you have already a good computer:-)).
I like to play with ambient sounds, korg has that kind of sounds and i like it,certainly oasys, but in september Omnisphere ends up.And what i see and hear with the 50 giga of sounds.....Great.
But oasys also can do a lot of that sounds, certainly with 'karma'.But the price. So software?....Better in time?
Oasys or Spectrasonics omnisphere, when you play ambient?

I have followed the Omnisphere's development with interest, but there is one major drawback that is a turn-off for me. When they release it, a whole bunch of people will peculiarly begin sounding very similar. I love the work they have done, and their sound design processes are very inspirational. But on how many songs do you want to hear the same instruments again? Ok maybe I am mistaken, and there is something revolutionary in the sound engine too, but all the videos I have seen emphasize their sound creation process. Maybe the next video will tell.
To me in ambient genre the sound is everything, so in my view you have to program your sounds yourself. That is where the OASYS excels.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. Ambient is about new, interesting, inviting, evolving and exciting sounds. Your own signature counts in this genre otherwise it's just copy cat stuff. The Omnisphere sounds are awesome though.sirCombatWombat wrote:I have followed the Omnisphere's development with interest, but there is one major drawback that is a turn-off for me.
