hi all please help!
i recently bought a new laptop so i could start gigging my electronica live with abelton. unfortunately i couldnt find a laptop that was as powerful as i wanted but which had XP on it so i ended up with Vista (i think its 32). i've tried to install my kontrol 49 on it but i just cant seem to get the damn thing to work. it appears as if ableton doesnt even realise it's plugged in.
however, when i do plug it in (via usb) vista makes that 'bing' noise to sugest that it has recognised a device and i get no error messages saying device not recognised or device not installed correctly. i really dont know what to try as i dont really know the inns and outs of vista, but i have had no trouble getting the kontrol 49 to work on my desktop which has XP.
can someone please save my sanity and give me some advice?
many thanks,
jake

okay i have been tinkering a little more and the device is installed but when i goto the hardware manager i nthe control panel it says that the driver has had trouble loading properly. when i try to update the driver, this is what happens:
Update Driver Software - KONTROL49
Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
USB Audio Device
This device canot start. (Code 10)
If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its webseite and check the support section for driver sodtware.
So does anyone know what Code 10 is and how to get around it?
cheers for you time, jake
