Hi hammer

what disk is it asking you to insert?

It should ask you to input the drive letter of your floppy disk drive - click the parameter button and then enter the drive letter, for example "A:" including the colons.

Any more issues come back to me
Regards

Mick,

I have been trying to install from my hard drive - does that mean I must copy the install program to a floppy to install?

Hi hammer,

Do you mean you wanted to save style files to your PA hard drive? it's just a quirk of XRM that it needs to know a drive letter fopr a floppy drive, you don't physically need to have one just pretend one is there and put a letter in the appropiate place in the parameter dialog.

Hi Mick,

Yes, I want to save styles to my hard drive so they can be loaded when needed. I previously played a Yamaha PSR3000 and I am very frustrated with how the PA1X handles styles. I want to delete styles I don't like from sets and combine sets so that only those styles I will actually use are available. So far no one has been able to fully explain to me how that can be done. Any help is deeply appreciated.

Unlike my PSR3000 the Korg seems to not have much in the way of 3rd party software help. I might be in over my head but I really prefer to play and not become a Korg "techy" guru.

I will try to run the setup program once more and type in "A:" and see what happens.

Thanks,
Hammer

Mick,

Are there any written "how to" type papers on how to manage styles on the PA1X? Seems to me someone someplace would have offered up something.

If you want I can write one for you in what way do you want to be able to manage the styles, in user banks, direct Hd or create custom style sets on a computer and then load to the keyboard?

Perhaps you can guide me on this. What I am trying to accomplish is to have "sets" of styles created from existing styles that reflect the music I play on gigs.

I eventually want to have my keyboard setup with only these styles available. If that means replacing the factory stuff that is ok. If it is better to have them on my hard drive that is ok also.

If the "sets" can be created via a computer that is ok too.

I think anyone who can write "lessons" about these keyboards does a great service to those of us with limited experience.

I eventually want to have the keyboard completely setup with my gig stuff including performances. I read from lead sheets and have always associated styles with certain songs - much like the songbook concept - but I want to be able to easily load and unload various sets as needed.

Again, I really appreciate your time and advice.

Mick,

I have hundreds of style on my hard drive but none in specific sets. I need to delete from those sets those styles I will never use and combine or create useful sets of styles from the remaing styles. I have been stuck on that step for over a month.

By the way, I tried to rerun the XRM setup and it is asking me for a file named XRM.CAB which it says it can't find.

ok

the easiest way is to get XRM up and running,

when you downloaded XRMsetup.zip did you unzip it all into a directory, can you tell me if that directory contains the following files:
setup.exe
setup.lst
Users Guide.pdf
XRM.CAB

Mick,

XRM.CAB is missing - everything else is there.
