MS2000 programming tips

Post by pictobug »

Hi, I'm new. By that I mean I'm new here, not a new person.

Anyway, I've had my MS-2000 since 2000 and STILL don't feel like I'm too great at getting the best out of the thing, I've had a search through the forums (and Google) but haven't quite found what I'm looking for.

I just wondered if anyone knows of a good site with programming tips for the MS-2000?

Any help would be very much appreciated. :)

Don't look for tips specifically for the MS2000. Look for anything dealing with the fundamentals of subtractive/analog synthesis, which apply to any virtual analog synthesizer. Read the manual cover to cover several times, playing with each parameter enough to understand what it does. There are no shortcuts. You have to put in the time experimenting to know what it really can do.

Then you can learn about the audio waveform characteristics of different kinds of instruments and use what you learned about the MS2000 capability to construct a waveform step-by-step through the synth structure.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not too bad at getting sounds out of the Korg (I never use preset patches) I just wondered if there were any videos etc on anything really spectacular which people had managed to get out of the MS2000. I tend to find a lot of the sounds a bit samey, ie, fizzy and metallic sounding, not fat and warm.
