The Who, Baba O'reilly, help

Post by rfarber9999 »

I have an R3 and am areal newbie to synths and the R3 (my first synth). I scrolled through all 17 pages for help on creating this sound/arp, and so far, have gleaned that it is good to start out with an organ and marimba patch and arpeggiate just one of them. Next , I need help to make the arp pattern, and any other help on this cool sound.

the original was programmed into an early computer sequencer using information about a guru (meher baba, I think) birth date, etc...

I say find the notes, use a random arp, and put a single bpm delay on it. We used to do a cover live using and old whitehall farfisa, digital delay, and a wah pedal...pretty convincing. So try using a band bpass filter in a mod sequence...

A friend of mine sat in for their N.Am. tour 06/07 when Rabbit was home taking care of his ailing wife - for live they still use the original tracks for Baba, WGFA and WAY triggered by Zack. Pete has an arrangement with Kurzweil so they use 2 B3's and 2 Leslies along with K2600 for synth and piano sounds. Got to meet Roger backstage along with most of the others and see how the whole live pkge. was put together. You hear a lot of rockstars egos etc. but they were great, Roger was very ill and did not know he had pnemonia at that time but when Brian had told them that I also volunteered with kids at a local highschool to teach a rock program afterschool they donated Zack's practice drumset as we were short a kit. Back on topic Pete used a Lowery TBO-1 organ set on marimba beat through his Arp 2500. Somehwere I have a great pic of Pete showing Brian how to play a song on the Kurz.

I must say these sound great! Any chance you've made a port for a Radias-R? Am I correct that these patches will not work in an R?
I am fairly new to the Radias environment - just thought you needed to know this.

I LOVE this Radias!
