Sorry But I`m Really happy With the Zero8

Post by rompling »

:D :D
Ok I have read all the comments and some amazing suggestions / critisims and most of all monitored the dreaded hiss situation forums and found myself being very nervous waiting for the delivery of my new Zero8
But guess what - No Hiss yes no hiss running it through my Bx8`s and my denon amp - Nada zilch !!
Yes there are problems and its only through the people on this site that these concerns are being voiced so more power to everyone BUT lets be a little bit positive about the zero8 all my friends are green with envy over my purchase and want one and I haven`t really pushed it yet !!!
As I understannd it is a cutting edge mixer and it will havep problems but it seems to me most problems can be fixed by a firmware update and it just seems Korg seems so SLOW to do anything about the problems with their updates
Splurt & Dj Grobe & eu.klid.fox you lot should be in Korg support dept - you make a lotta sense
Sorry for the rant / praise

rompling like you i love the mixer !!

I just write some hards words here related to support and slow upgrades, i just feel KORG act like CASPER under some situations with some users really have big troubles, just that.

Personally i have ZERO big troubles :P

All troubles i see on the unit are 100% fixables by firmware, and if KORG add some features like option i sugest days ago for make user can select what act like midi and waht NO.......wow i augurate long permenancey in the market for this mixer....

JUST DO IT KORG !!

Again, i listen a low noise when turn the volume of the amplifiers to maximum !!
At that value of level of amplifier the mixer is non usable due its ridicule high level from amps.
I use in the last month in all my gigs, around 12 gigs in one month with ZERO TROUBLE
Sorry but the HISS "problem" ITS NOT REALLY NOTICIABLE HISS.
That is my experience.

I cant understand why people use the speakers at maximum level, that just increase the noises incoming from any device connected.

Just mantain relation NOISE/SIGNAL and all is ok.

Last weekend i played with korg on 10.000wat club, again i repeat ZERO TROUBLE

usually a big power amp/ sound system are set to turn at full gain, sorry, even some do not have gain levels at all, they're just amp multipliers. volume is set on the main console.

so if your main console is a zero, you'll be obliged to either plug it in another mixer or set the output low, and here comes the shity noise ratio.

sorry that not is my situations weeks over weeks gigs across gigs, right now i back from amazing gig on very private club they have amazing MEYER audio system, and sorry but again no noise in the speakers, the club where i played just few hours ago, have 6000w and really cristal sound !
I love that meyer sound !
I play like the only dj in all night, 6 hour set, directly form korg zero 8 XLR output to the sound system of the club.
I use the master at little more of the middle knob all night for the maximum power on the club.
I know zero 8 have hiss, but for me is really low and aceptable value.
I think for studio can be trouble. but i not use korg for studio,
My studio is 100% digitally using just ableton.

Again not noticiable noise hiss, or trouble, korg is awesome mixer for live gigs.

ok but did you plugged you zero DIRECTLY to the sound system or did it goes first to a local preamp system, cause that's not the same, but I gess you now it...

Cause I with 2friends own a 10kw 18"sub/15"bass RCF sound system with 4"medium high JBL pro/and 1"eminence/celestion, and I can really notice the difference between the korg and my old mackie, I have less noise using analog cables and analog mackie device wich is just an aberration!!!! the korg is supposed to be 100percent numeric when used in FW mode, so we should hear no hiss!

If I turn the sound system up and on korg use send level, you really, really ear the noise, so ok when you play loud music you won't hear it, but in quiet passage you can, and I gess overall you loose about 5 percent gain, as with noize you reach the cliping 0 before it should. Ill try to measur it but I think it's noticeable.

so ok I would tolerate that if I paid a cheap, let's say under 200 dollars mixer , but here we speak about 2K!

again sorry for those wo are happy with this, I m just not yet...

we all ear that fixs will be done, avaible, free, in march, we're in june, still no news, no infos...
that evevy pb "should be fixed" with firmware updates,,,,,
6-8 months later still not fixed, that's the facts, firmware updates are anormally long to come....

but you're right djgrobe, let's calm down and wait till the next update, if it'ok I shut my mouth...but if it's not I ll be boring I gess..

Yes i connect directly, and only listen very low noise when put the speakers super high!
Anyway any decent system should have some preamp before, on every club where i go to play music allways they have compressors, limiters, etc etc.

I think only in the studio or under some special situations that hiss can be a trouble if you configure your speakers at maximum level.

Sorry mr but no problematic hiss for me...........only really low noise under some studio situations and can be fixed just decreasing the gain of speakers to 60 or 70% , balancing the rest of preamps or processors, and sending more signal from korg without put the master of korg to 100%

I think if connect the korg at maximum level, to speakers directy yes listen that hiss, and can be problem for studio work.

Always the best way is try mantian the more high signals vs less knob level (of course without reach distortion),.........that way allways is the best way for mantian god and the best NOISE VS SIGNAL

Again i back from saturday gig now, another one with ZERO TROUBLES.
I put big atention on the system speaker with no music, i listend the digital hiss only when i stay very close of the audio system and really make effort for listen.

I really sorry for your frustration, i not have time now, but i think after july i can open my unit and investigate where that ugly noise come for see its possible improve or fix.
I are electronic tech, so think can take a look, i not promess a lot, but can be possible.
Due KORG no answer, somebody should make something about this.

I have just one trouble, days ago i turn on the mixer and touch screen no work, lcd poweron ok, but no have touch, i poweroff the unit on again and touchscreen work again.
I think is some OS bug.

Best regards.
