MicroKORG & Hip Hop?

Post by Explicit- »

Hello people.

I currently own a Akai MPC500 and I make Hip Hop beats and I was looking into purchasing a MicroKORG but I have a simple question. Hope you guys can reply. :?

I just want to know if anyone here uses the MicroKORG to make Hip Hop beats either as their main tool or second tool?

Thanks

i wouldn't use it for beats...
you can get percussion sounds out of it
which you could maybe sample and chop up on your mpc or pc...

but its no beat machine.

i dont listen to hiphop
but i'd imagine it would be good for hip hop leads, synth parts and basslines

i'd recommend having a play with one at a store to see if it does the sounds you'd want in your music.

Try an EMX or ESX.
They're great for making beats.

But yeah Im not going to use it as my main tool... Thats what my MPC is for. :D
I only want to MicroKORG for basslines, synths and intros to songs/ choruses and bridges.

Oh no... I know this is a KORG forum but the Akai MPC, MPD or XR20 are lightyears ahead of the EMX or ESX

I own a MPC...

I own an MPC2000xl and its collecting dust right now in favor of my ESX-1!
mpc's are so overrated, and im saying this with all honesty.
I dont know how you can say MPC's are light years ahead. LOL thats laughable. Okay the 1000 and 4000 come pretty loaded with goodies, but the automation/motion sequencing is almost non existant and mediocre compared to the ESX's abilities in the same department. Hell even the ES-1 had a complete motion sequencing protocol back in 2000 when the MPC2k came out, the 2k couldnt even record pan, level or filter automations in real time or in smooth playback, only rough awkward sounding triggers. Resampling wasnt even fathomable on the MPC either, forget about it. But the ES-1 came stock with 11 effects and way more sampe time right out the box, where as with the MPC you had to install and purchase an overpriced 300 dollar effects card and than buy and install your own damn memory expansion RAM to fix the horrible 21 seconds that you couldnt put together one complete song with.

That being I said i also own a microkorg and ES-1 as well as an ESX-1.
Their are absolutely no limitations, skys the limit. And I make hiphop, crate dig and sample for my beats at least 95% of the time.
The Microkorg is an invaluable tool.

Go get it, you wont regret it...the sound is fatter than rosie o' donnel.
