KORG's Real Drums

Post by BiHSound »

Hi

Are the Real Drums, that KORG offers for free on their website, better quality than the ones found on the ROM of PA800/PA2X or NOT?

I agree with you buddy...I just wanted to see what others think of them, since maybe my ears are not hearing those drums properly :D. PA800/2X have some really good drums, Jazz Kit is for sure one of them.

Hi men .

As you see the name of SET is Real Drums - and it is really real drums .
The grooves are based on real playing . For this someone can likes it someone not ...
If you don't use the grooves - it is useless ...

You have to understand that Real Drums are made very long ago and in no
way can be compared to PA800/2X ROM Drums. These are way more advanced.

Sorry, Nedim but, I think the quality has nothing to do with time. As a matter of fact, there isn't any big steps in keyboard technology the last 6 - 7 years!!

Yes Dimitris it does. 7 years ago i was a different man, i played worst the
i do now-better quality, i mixed worst then i do now-better quality, i knew
less then i know now-better quality, i had less equipement then not-better
quality...e tc. My point is, yes, there is quality difference and first of all the
REAL dont have 6 Layers drums or i might be wrong. The first 6 months
when i bought my first PA800 REAL DRUMS was the only thing i was using
till i got deeper into it. You had a PA1X and now i think you have a PA2X,
try to listen to the same sound on BOTH and you'll hear. That doesnt mean
that the whole ROM was recreated but its an improvement in Outputs or
in Compression/Limiting or other factors in the machine. We all learn from
our mistakes or what we missed the first time...same thing with Korg.

I won't disagree with you, you know better but, try to correct me if I am wrong, I think that still the internal ROM is more compressed than those REAL samples. That means quality loss in some way, am I right?

Yo are right about it but deppends on the compression and the size of the
original sample. Its one thing if you compress from 100 mb to 10 mb and
another thing if you compress 1000mb to 10 mb or 100 mb to 50 mb.
