Audio through USB

Post by hugh »

Hi. I'm having trouble recieving audio, via USB to Cubase. I have an M3 going straight to PC via USB. The transport panel shows a signal but nothing can be recorded or monitored. Does USB carry audio?

B-type USB connector seems not to support audio streaming but only MIDI data streaming to your DAW.

for what i know only Virus Snow (and maybe TI, i am not sure) use natively their USB port to stream audio data.

In general, USB can carry audio audio, but the Korg M3 does NOT support this.
The M3 USB link is used to transmit/receive data to/from the M3 Editor or to exchange MIDI data with a Sequencer (or other MIDI application).

The fantom G has a built in interface and supports audio over usb and without any of the latency issues of both the Virus or the M3 FW. So it can be done. Roll on the new FW drivers!
