Hi,

I started working on this tune in June in order to make it before holidays. I like it, it is the kind of music I listen to most of the time. I built it around a D minor scale and added a solo on the pentatonic scale. My music teacher seems to like it, now it will be subject to your vote...

The technical aspects of this song are quite interesting, IMO. I programmed the rythm and the arpeggios in the radias step sequencer. Then I recorded the midi into the Motif's sequencer. The Motif has got a function called loop remix which let's you alter drum loops for example. I used it function to introduce some variations into the rythm and the bass line. I did some manual editing as well to fine tune the result.

Both, the starting sequence and the bass line were generated by radias. The drums come from radias too, except for the kick drum, which is Yamaha Motif. The pads and that high pitch sequence + some effects are produced by the Virus C. The solo lead comes from the moog LP.

Finally, that resonating, quite prominent sound comes from Roland JP 8k. As I'm not too good in finding out fancy song titles, I picked the patch name for a title.

Sewa, as I said in another post, I like a lot your style, you've got some not common musical attidues for this kind of electronic/minimal music!
Great sounds, great porgramming, and the mixing is very good sounding!
I would "pump up" a little the overall mix, but I agree the fact in this kind of music you need the right balance between relaxing and pumping, so maybe you're already right.
I love the starting arpeggio, with that synched delay creating a short chord between the last D and the first F...very smart!

I'm sure you know it, but at the end there are some mistakes in the groove and in the synth line at the very end of the piece...
(I'm listening it right know for the third time, the panning is totally amazing!)

I know, my music teacher pointed it out as well. I decreased tempo quite redically at the end, which caused this effect of the groove falling appart. It did not bother me but your observation makes me realize that this is something to look at in the future.

You had me at "hello".

This really has a smooth buildup. Great arp that drags you in and under. Then great effects keep you moving forward.

I will say that you have combined some of my favorite electronica artists for this one. Lots of Jarresque textures and swirling effects. Smooth leads reminiscent of Klaus Schultz with a little more melodic edge however which is very inviting and accessible in a song of this nature.

The ending was very unexpected, though pleasing in it's originality.

Technical- great! The mix is good and nothing I can think of stands out. If it were me, I would have aimed for a more Jarre feel by phasing the pad in the background a bit more with delay.

This is the stuff I like listening to now as well, I guess because I'm exploring more what to do electronically with music as opposed to my grungy guitar emulations, which sound cool but never quite sound like guitars anyway. I'm jealous that you've got such cool gear to use. But I promise I'll get this m3 kicking some butt. I have the exb-radias and I do like the sounds. This has such a nice bouncey yet flowing vibe and each sound is interesting and complements yet stands out. I can hear each part clearly in the mix yet it all gels very well. And it's the perfect length. I want to do pieces in this style too, but I will always attempt adding vocals as that's what I do. However, instrumentals like this are great fun. Good job. I need to sit in on your classes.

PS: next time I would like a courageous attempt at a song title. Suggestion: take your initial word here and alter it, like resopunk or resofunk or Rezpad or something. Would add interest. Also, it's really fun to make it a names mix, that's another area to write descriptions ie (blowing bubbles edit) or that sort of thing. It's really quite fun once you get into naming mixes as well as names.

I like this style for listening when I'm posting or reading on the net, I just hated it when this one stopped, which obviously means I was enjoying it.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Im glad you liked it, the comparision to Jarre or Schultze is a nice compliment, even if undeserved

I'm looking forward to hear your M3 in action George. I do find that synth very tempting...

meanwhile, I'm going on holidays. I'm taking my JP 8000 with me to keep the creative juices flowing

I know little about this style, but I enjoy it immensely. You are truly in your element here. I have your other electronica, you have mastery over this genre! I should sit down with this style and learn how it is done. The evolving pads, rhythms and choice of sounds are exciting.It is a fun ride.

Wow - you threw your entire arsenal at this tune - what a project! There are so many sounds in there - a veritable feast! What is that background rumblie bulbble pop sound ~1:15?

That bouncy arp had a familiarity to it - although I can't place it.

As usual, I like your playing and composition. I always learn something from your compositions.

This tune sounds very refined, solid, and complete. I actually like the ending with the timing skew - I think it fits - unconventional maybe - but appropriate - in my view.

Yes - I am afraid you will have to give your tunes unique names. They are worthy

Electronic niceness

You've put a lot of thought into the sounds and the variety shines out.
Love the catchy phrases and arps, as well as the darker elements that appear from time to time.
