Control the note number of each step with sysex ?

Post by moroe »

Hello

Is it possible to set the note number and length of each single step with sysex commands while recording ?

My plan is to build a external midi controler box with 16 knobs which drives the electribe esx1.

greets

I've looked into the the sysex pretty extensively and it's pretty limited. It's mostly concerned with saving and loading patches. All knobs can be controlled with MIDI CC's. Note lengths can be recorded real time using MIDI notes and length, but I don't think there's a way to do it in real-time with sysex.

ya the sysx is anything but realtime. First of all to receive or send the sysx data of a current pattern, the track has to be stopped and you have to be in midi mode(not part edit or pattern).....

On top of that, sending the data of a current pattern takes quite a while (like 20-30 seconds if I remember correctly).... Which makes it almost as slow as the step edit mode on the machine itself ;)
