"save as" a changed style?

Post by msl-kybd »

I have a PA50 and I'm trying to make some changes -- for example, I want to change the default starting tempo and 4 quick-choice sounds for the Heavy Rock beat. I want to save these changes into one of the user choices instead of modifying the factory default.

How can I do that? It's basically like I want to "save as" the heavy rock beat into a user bank, then change it and save it again.

I tried the manual but got confused.

Thanks all!

Ok try this, i'm not at the keyboard at the moment so i am just going from memory.

select the style you want to edit and press RECORD.
press the button to the left of the screen in line with CURRENT STYLE
to set the TEMPO press and hold the SHIFT button while you use the dial to set the tempo.
press the TRK SELECT button and change the sounds you want.
Press the WRITE button and you will be asked wher you want to save it to. To select where, press the button to the left of the screen in line with To: and use the tempo dial to select the position in the user bank.
press ENTER and then ENTER again when you are asked ARE YOU SURE?

you will then exit STYLE RECORD mode.
Regards

There is another way as well which can do the STS settings and Sounds.

at any time you make a change, press WRITE and you will have a choice of what you want to save

if you want to save STS settings then press the button to the left of the screen in line with STS No: and use the TEMPO DIAL to select which of the buttons to save it to.

Hope these help answer your question
Regards

Sorry to keep going on this...

I tried it and it was perfect (thanks!) for moving that whole style over into a different place and renaming it, but it didn't save my changes.

For example:

I want to take the Hora style (World 3), change the default tempo to 160, remove the "Clarinet G" in Accomp 1-5 (actually, mute it), change the 4 STS and the split point, and save into User 1.

Following what you wrote, I was able to save the Hora into User 1 by a different name, but even when I changed the tempo, accomp, etc. it didn't save that.

What am I missing?

Thanks SO much!

Hi there,

I have time to write it out for you so i will go through each step in a seperate post to make it easier. :)

Step 1 - how to save a style into the user bank.

select your style, let's pick heavy rock.

Press RECORD.

Press the button to the left of CURRENT STYLE

Now you have the style opened in the edit mode.

Press the WRITE button

this opens the WRITE TO screen

here you can rename the style and choose which user bank you want to save it to.

when you are happy with your choices, press the ENTER/YES key

this opens the ARE YOU SURE Screen

Press ENTER/YES to save or EXIT/NO to cancel.

when the keyboard has finished saving the style it will exit the EDIT mode and you will have your new copy (in the user bank) open and ready to play around with.

Step 2 - how to change the tempo and save it.

the default tempo for this style is 140 so change it to the tempo you want, say 150

press the WRITE button

press the button to the left of CURRENT STYLE

Press the ENTER/YES button (twice to confirm)

the new tempo value is saved to the style

Step 3 - saving STS

In Heavy Rock STS 1 the settings are

SuperBXPerc

Killer B
Percussion. BX3

pick one and change it, let's say Killer B

Press PROGRAM

Press which ever program you want let's say ORGAN1 - Jimmy Organ

This particular track is muted. Beside the track there are the 2 volume buttons, if you press both together it will toggle mute on/off.

when you are happy with the changes press WRITE

press the button next to STS N.: use the dial to select which STS you want to save this to and press ENTER/YES (twice to confirm)
