Korg R3 volume too low?

Post by quicksilverp3 »

I've used many Korg R3s, and it seems the volume is lower than other synths. Is everyone else's like this?

Not on mine.

It's about the same as my other synths.

Hi quicksilverp3,

My R3 is the same as yours. I too find the volume a bit low. So I put it to the max and give it a little boost on my mixer before going to the amplifier.

I tested 2 other R3s (here in Canada) and both are the same way (low volume).

So if you have a mixer, it's not too bad but if you play it stand alone with headphones it's bad. :(

Note : For some patches (the very low volume ones), you could still turn the volume up in the amp section but that is only a not very practical work around...

I don't have that issue. The Korg is as loud as anything else (sometimes louder) than the rest of my rig. I don't go much beyond half way (50-60%) to get it pumping right.

Perhaps taking a look at your gain stages and input setting to make sure everything is set properly...

Yeah i've found mine to be quiet too, i have to turn up the gain quite high on the pres of my soundcard, but that's what they're for!
