Many people like the Traynor K series. The K4 offers 3 balanced stereo paired inputs and a 4th channel of RCA stereo input. It also has has balanced XLR stereo outputs and a dedicated sub output via 1/4".

It is clean but you can get a lot of sound out of it.

Personally, I have always used a PA type of setup for live applications. Currently I have a 12 channel Behringer mixer that goes into a stereo Crown head which outputs into two dual 15" cabinets with 10" horns. I also run vocals through there simultaneously.

I've been in the market for a new amp recently having decided that my old warhorse Peavey KB300 (about 10 yrs. old) is just getting too darn much to lug around.

I tend to play smaller rooms these days so I tried out a new Peavey KB3. Not impressed. It sounded 'thin' and too brittle on the top. Fiddling around with it didn't seem to make much difference either, so back to the store it went.

Right now I'm trying a Roland Cube 100 Bass Amp and I think it's a keeper.

Okay, it's got a bunch of modelling features for bass players (obviously) so it's not a keyboard amp per se, but it handles everything I throw at it and there's no lack of punch if needed. Also the top end is clean and bright without any harshness. The bottom is, as befitting a bass amp, deep and clean and doesn't influence the mid and high ranges.

Another benefit is its size, roughly 1/2 to 2/3 the size of the old KB300 and a heck of a lot lighter - my back thanks me.

Funds permitting (via the wife) I'd like another one so I could go stereo. Good luck in your quest BigAl, your own ears will decide in the end.

The Cube-100 BASS runs about $450.

Take a listen to the Behringer B215A for under $300. It blows away the Cubes, as well as the KC series, including the KC-550.

And it's merely the cheapest good PA speaker. There are better, such as the Peavey PR15P, Tapco Thump 15A, Samson DB500A, Mackie SRM450, JBL EON-G2, and others that all represents better values.

Keyboard amps are merely overpriced, underpowered, heavier, lower quality, floor sitting powered PA speakers. Other than that, they're ok. ;)

How true. The type of music you play and whether or not you are doing this was a band may also be influential.

I recently purchased a Peavey PR15P and this speaker throws some serious sound. At just under 40 lbs. its kind on my back as well. I use this speaker for wedding work with my keys as well as running my E-kit through it in my practice studio. Nice fat low end. I run my keys through a line mixer to get some EQ shaping for different rooms but the mid/ highs are nice and crisp. Another nice feature is it will accept 3 inputs with a level knob for each, this comes in handy when rehearsing with other players.

JBL EON-G2

Post by BigAl »

Any comments on this one.....> http://www2.jblpro.com/catalog/General/ ... d=93&MId=3

I cannot shop around because the hurricane did a lot of damage here. Most people and businesses don't have lights yet.

Is the JBL EON G2 a keeper?
