Realization-Stephen Sept. OSAM

Post by Stephen »

This is soundtrack, sort of anyway.
I spent what little time I had available on this, but ran very short of what I really needed, which is obvious when I listen to it, but I didn't want to be late, and time gets really short after today.

This is a very open approach from you Stephen! I kinda like the change up from your norm. The textures are nice. Wow there is just a whole lot going on.

With the change, one thing I wanted to hear was some of the dynamics so prevalent in your songs. But this was noticeably missing. This is not a bad thing as I sensed that you were not looking to have massive drop outs in the song the grabbed your attention: that would be bad for film music as you do not want to draw away from the picture. But for just listening pleasure, it would have been great to hear the background drones drop out and the beats minimize while you add some new lead dimension.

I really like your approach to the melody. Very sparse, yet just what was needed, when it was needed.

Great versatility shown in this months OSAM Stephen, great job!

Thanks Jon,
I must admit to not spending nearly the time I wanted to on this, but demands on my time lately have been unusually high.

This one may never get fully developed, I relied on the superb sound quality of the M3 to help me out this time, hopefully I'll get a day sometime this next month to devote to a legit composition, that I can be proud of.

Oh I would be proud of this. It is good stuff, no buts about it.

I understand the time factor. What is nice is that you are bothering to explore at all with your new instrument! The track I am working on has suffered from time constraints as well, but today I am "exploring" a bit so I can get it posted early this week.

Looking forward to your next one as well.

I think for a soundtrack this works well. The m3 is doing you proud by the sound of things. Yeah, it's not something you would just sit a listen to as a song, but each piece of music is to suit the needs of the project. I'm assuming this is partly a combi, not sure which one, but it sounds very nice and has a good subtle energy. The guitar blends well while leading just enough.

This isn't my finest hour here, but I appreciate your kindness, this could easily, and justifyably, be blasted as "not all that good"!
Thanks guys.

No way man - this has your signature all over it ! And sportin' an M3 as well!

It doesn't sound like you ran out of time actually - to me it is on par with your other tunes.

I think I agree w/Jon - some of your other tunes have distinct changes - but who said every tune should follow the same format?

One nit - the ending got cut off - either complete the fade or or really end it. Other than that - its a keeper :-)

Cheers,

It's been playing for a while now, it grows on you and I like it!
It has put me in a nice relaxed mood, and for some reason I'm thinking of Miami.
I can sort of see that you might liked to have developed it more, but for now this sounds just right.
Love the way the guitar interacts with the rest of the song, you signature is all over this.

It's a good one Stephen :)

Hey, what a new tune from Stephen!
As always I like a lot your guitar sound, it's interesting because it's not all high frequencies, it has a serious "body", and the sound is so smooth.
I like the choice of percussions mixed to drums...very nice!

I just have to say that sometims I hear some problems about synching at the end of the drum loop...There are some sort of very short stops, not flowing to the next beat...
I hope I've been clear explaining the problem...

Hi Stephen

I can hear many interesting things going on here. The little touches of piano are just right and I am always in admiration of your drum tracks. Your guitar playing is as always really outstanding and WOW the M3 sounds great.
