georgeinar - October - Halloween??

Post by georgeinar »

This is a first for me this osam to post an instrumental that is going to have vocals. I'm working on a 3rd set of lyrics (the subject which shall remain a secret for now). This way you can comment on the instrumental and what if any suggestions you may have for the overall feel. Keep in mind this is not really beefed up yet and is still in the development phase.

So here is the music:

Any comments/suggestions here are welcome.

P.S. Here's the link to the version with the lyrics. The music is quite similar, only massaged it a bit for the lyrical content:

Fireman

To the Vulcan god I turn
When I feel the need to burn
Let me pause to set the scene
As I sprinkle gasoline
And in this royal fire
Release my own desire
You always did inspire poetry

Not for me an ounce of fame
Torch the neighbors in his name
Matches help; water hinders
Turning mortals into cinders
When after some demanding
My sister took the branding
We had this understanding rivalry

Please forgive me if I gloat
In my rubber overcoat
Execute my master plan
As your local fireman
A guy in my position
Must live above suspicion
I tiptoe through your house
So I can leave a douse of kerosene, nice and clean

Cool feel and use of the traditional sounds along with a lot of new sounds. I cannot wait to hear a final product on this.

I really like the breakdown you revisit a little over halfway through the song. Once you drop the lyrics then I can have a better feel of the song.

But so far so good!

Thanks Jonsolo. Now you can hear my blank canvas and what it does to begin with a fairly flushed out song, the sort that I do anyway, without a thought of what it's going to be about. It does sound a bit conventional for me, maybe that's part of my problem here.

There is NO problem here!!!

I really like the bass line a lot, and this stands right along with your usual brilliant work.

Like Jon, I'm very anxious to hear the vocal, but I enjoyed the listen just as it is, and found it very interesting to hear this in it's infancy.

Nice job so far.

Hey oh man - I can't wait to hear the vocals. This is a riot. Man I love the pounding perc., the slick bass line, and all the sections (cool to hear how you develop your tune), and the rhythm. Cool ending. You are a master song craftsmith.

Very interesting to hear it b4 lyrics - it is obvious that it has been built for lyrics - it screams for them. Very interesting.

Well don't just sit there reading this post man - finish it :)

8)

PS - How did you make a tune available @ Soundclick that doesn't show up on your main music page?

Hey, you's guys saved this one from the burning fire heap. Finally got some lyrics here. I put the link at the beginning of the thread along with the lyrics. It's fun, not exactly what I had in mind, but hey, a song is a song. Drwho, glad you liked the bass (so did Stephen). The music is not very edgy here, but more playful, the lyrics are a contrast maybe??

Thank you Diego, actually the final version is the second link above here, maybe it's confusing:

Really appreciate all your encouragement. This one was really hard for some reason.

Just curious...
Guitars are really played, are not coming from the interna M3 ROM...right?
I love both versions (instrumental, which I loved a lot the usage of pannings, smart and brillant as always!!) and this final singed version.

No, the guitar is just a midi track from the m3. I just tryed to make it sound like plucked.

Tell me you're joking...!!!
Well, it's absolutely the most "living" guitar track I've every heard!
How much time did it take to sound that real?
Didi you use any special trick?

Not really. I just added some reverb, some pitch bend and the notes of the chords I edited them to offset the pluck so they don't play all at once. These are very easy to do, in fact I almost didn't use the guitar because I was afraid it would sound too fake and keyboard-y.

Wow - what a trip hearing the version with vocals - in the George style as usual :-)

Yea - the guitars do sound authentic, and the mix is refined. Interesting that you make your final wav file from the M3.

I dig the lyrics - totally fun. Reminds me of some tunes off your first CD in terms of style. I did think the vocals weren't as bright and punchy as they usually are.

Very creative - you are a tune smith 8)

If you think it would help I could work more on the vocal track. I do have a couple ideas that might strengthen the sound of it. There's very little compression on it and I think some words are too soft. Also, in melodyne I could do a little melody in spots. That's some ideas I had about the vocals.
