I am selling my PA800

Post by raheel »

I just purchased this keyboard a few months ago and it is in perfect condition.

The problem is that I HATE the keyboard on this thing. I played a $200 Casio keyboard at Best Buy that felt more professional than this. Of course, I'm just comparing the actual keybed, not the machine.

This is the second and probably last Korg that I will buy simply because I hate their keybeds and action. They are just totally uninspiring to play for me. I much prefer Yamaha's graded hammer action and have gone back to one of their digital pianos.

Of course, I think the actual arranger, sounds, technology on this machine is amazing and I had a lot of fun with it, but when I'm playing the keyboard, I need to really feel it - and I just don't with this. I have tried rectifying this by using a nicer controller keyboard with it, but am tired of needing two keyboard to play one. If only the PA800 came in a rack form, it would be perfect for me!

Anyway, I'm in Texas and will put the thing up on Ebay as virtually new with factory accessories, packaging, etc. in a couple of weeks.

If you are interesting in taking it off my hands before then, please email me at raidrus at gmail.com

I'm looking for $2300 plus shipping OBO.

Thanks!

Hi Raheel,

It's a pity that the keybed was a concern for you, if you weight that against the features and sound quality it wouldn't gneraly be much of a problem. I can understand what you are saying.

This topic should be posted in the Buy and sell thread.

you dont like the Steering Wheel on the Mercedes? Why dont you change it?
If you like everything else on the Keyboard you can change the Keybed.
People do it and many people did it. This is BS, i dont buy it.

Raheel, thanks for your honest answer. Of course, if the keyboard does not give you the "feel" you need, you should sell it.

But if you like the machine itself, why not try the PA2x ??

It has a complete other feel. Have you tried it ?

The keys are totally different, so as the materials. Inside it is the same, so this should be a perfect solution ? If you need sound (PA2x has no speakers) you can easily mount 2 monitors like the Tyros.

Good idea maybe ?

Since when does a casio keyboard feel better than a Korg. The keybed itself on the Korg costs more than the casio itself.

Raheel, I bought a PA2xpro after I sold my PA800. The Pa2xPro has a great keybed. You may want to go that route.

WHAT IS THE the s\n OF YOUR KB?

DO you have one?

How can you even to compare CASIO to PA800? [I have a casio too...]
It seems that your KB is not for profession use, and because of that you can think in this way...!

Amazing!

Have you try the PA500 OR PA2X?
The feeling is deferent there,
As I test and know, with some deferent companys too there are no more deferent feeling with KB in the market then this three, [only in the imagination of people], and the 4 is the real feel of piano.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to ruffle anybody's feathers.

The fact is that the casio I played felt better to me than the keybed on the Korg. TO ME.

I appreciate the suggestion to change out the keybed, but I would have no idea where to start. And even then, it just wouldn't feel as good as the one on the Yamaha digital piano that I'm replacing it with.

Like I said, I loved this thing other than the keybed. The sounds, arranger, capabilities, etc...all awesome. And if this was offered in a rack version, it would be mine.

The PA2XPro action is much improved, but it is wayyy out of my price range.

Go to best buy or something and play a cheap yamaha or casio keyboard. I bet you'll be surprised that this top of the line Korg has a keyboard that feels pretty much the same. I was.

raheel,

From what you are saying, you seem to be a fan of the weighted hammer action piano keys. You can't get them on arrangers or pro arrangers unless you are considering the Korg pa588 which is a 88 key hammer action keyboard.

You haven't specified what you do with the keyboard, if you use it for live performances or studio.

So waht is this casio?

I am definitely certain itwould have no after touch or velocity. These keyboards are designed for beginners and contain basic features including thier keybed.

yes, the action of the keys are horrible. The keybed sucks, but that's the case with most arrangers anyways. By far, korg TR 88 keys has had the best action for me. They're really good compared to anything i've seen so far.
However, i didnt' get the PA800 to practice Mozart. I bought it for the things that it has to offer. IF I had an option to pay the same price for a 88 piano action PA800 , i would still buy what i have right now, because it's small and portable and fits in my car easily. So if the keybed is your primary concern, then you really made a bad investment.

Guys you are right and I bought it knowing that it has a keyboard that I will never enjoy playing on, which is why I figured I'd just use my Studiologic Fatar Grand Piano action midi controller with it. Its just that I'm tired of lugging around two keyboards just to play one.

I don't gig but do jam with friends every once in a while, which means having to carry two keyboards with me. . I also play a lot at home and do some recording with it.

I had assumed that I would get past the keys, but I was wrong - so now I am selling it.

Plain and simple.

Thanks,
Raheel
