power consumption on the pa2x
Hi,
I just would like to know what you guys suggest is the best method of reducing power consumption with the pa2x?.
I normally turn on the keyboard whenever i'm playing it and switch it off when not playing. This mans i can at times turn it on and off about 8-10 times a day. I'm just wondering if repetitive switching on and off might cause some problems.
I'm thinking of keeping it on for a couple of hours rather than keep switching on and off.
Any suggestions?
if someone also knows the efficiency of the keyboard that would also be appreciated
This doesn't have to treat the pa2x only, i want to know what is the best method for any keyboard in general in terms of saving electricity.
Thanks for the help.

Cmon on guys this isn't a frequent daily question about OS 2.0 or something that is covered everyday that people are sick and tired of answering. This is the first such question treated on the forums, so please if any of you have some tips or answers please share them for the benefit of all.

30w
The keyboard itself (not amplifers & speakers) only consumes about 30 watts of electricity at 240volts, now if you think about it 1000watts costs on average 7cents for an hour, so if we do the math this means that you would need to leave it switched on for 33hours and 22 mins to use 7 cents of electric. Hope this helps.

As with any "computer" device, it is better to leave the device ON but of course this is not practical (same for hard drives etc...).
I don't think you need to worry about this...

When starting up, the hard drive is not used I think compared to a computer, where the OS and Windows are loaded from the hard drive.
The OS on Korg PA800 is loaded from internal memory.
So there should NOT be a hardware or software problem from starting up many times. The digital data itself will not be changed or influenced.
Well, at least not if you start it up 10 times every day.
So no problem at all I would say.

power consumption on the pa2x
Hi Mr Korg
I have been advised many times, by different people, to turn the computer /printer/tv etc on by the wall plug switch and not by the switch on the unit.
The reason I am told is that the swithes on these products are often the weakest part or flimsey.
Therefore I do the same with my keyboards, mixers etc .
I cannot see that there is a problem with this( unless someone knows different)

It is always advisable to power on and off your equipment using the provided on/off switch. I also do not recommend leaving it on all the time unless you are using a voltage regulator. Voltage spikes and dropouts could harm your board.
When turning on the power button, a power surge is sent to the equipment and the power circuitry. It is built for that purpose. If the equipment is going to fail, it will do so during the power up process. If you keep your equipment on all the time, these circuits do not get tested.
Just my two cents.

Hmm ... I was sure I answered your question somewhere else. Did I dream it? Anyway here is what I thought I said ...korgpa2xpro wrote:On A pa2x pro is there a need to defag the hard drive? If so how?
There is only a need if you have previously filled the disk to 80% or more of its capacity. You can Defrag the HD on the Pa2x by connecting the Pa2x to your PC via the USB "printer" cable. Then on the PC you will see that a new device called "Korg_HD" has been mounted. You can then use the PC based Defrag software on it.
Best regards,
Rob
