Just noticed there were just Japanese drivers and ZeroEdit for Vista released. Hopefully it'll be sent across the ocean and translated soon, but I guess if you were really stubborn (or knew Japanese) you could figure things out anyhow.

Sorry for not reporting it here earlier. I've been browsing these forums too for quite some time, and had a vague memory of having posted something here, but upon trying to log in I realised that was incorrect. Being a bit late (somewhere around two in the night) I didn't quite feel up to starting the registration process right then.

Thank you as22 for getting the message across to here!

My recommendation is to keep your eyes open on that page, because you'll almost always get the information about the latest software updates there first. It does however take a few weeks usually before things are available in english versions. Whether this is because of translation needs or if they are prepared at the same time but simply not published I don't know...

If anyone have tried the Vista driver, whether it's a japanese one or a translated one, it'd be interesting to hear how it works, since I'm currently not on Vista myself.

well this driver do not work on Vista Ultimate with SP1

if anyone has the solution for this let me know

i update my korg with firmware 1.6 and still nothing it appears as unknown device on the device manager

I know this is not the solution people have been looking for, but I just tried it, and it seems to work pretty well (even when trying some of the 'tricks' I've found guarantee to get the high pitch sqeaks out of the Zero8). Give it a try and see if it works for you...

Install the Zero8 driver from the CD (if it's not already) on your system.

Install ASIO4ALL

Under your audio software, select the output device as ASIO4ALL

Go into the ASIO4ALL control panel in your audio software, disable all the outputs you won't be using (eg. under traktor I disabled all the inputs, and the last 4 of the outputs, since I use 4 decks without timecode).

Set up the audio outputs as normal in your audio software, choosing the ASIO4ALL equivalents of the channels you'd normally choose from the Korg ASIO driver.

I've only had chance to do a quick test with this setup so far, but its definitely already far more reliable than the Korg ASIO driver under Vista. Give it a try and tell me how you get on!

yeap i think on that posible solution
but on my case is not posible because my vista do not found the hardware

i use my Zero 4 on my laptop with XP and traktor pro without problems
but in my desktop with vista i wasn't able even to install it

erganto: the way I got it installed was to copy the "firewire diver" folder from the CD onto your hard disk. Then right click the setup.exe file in that folder (the one on your HD), and go to properties. Go into the 'compatibility' tab at the top, and switch the settings to "Windows XP (SP2)". Apply the settings and run setup.exe.

At some point during the installation, you'll get a warning about installing unsigned drivers, just click continue, and all should be good.

Doing it this way works, but not reliably.

I checked out the Japanese Korg downloads using google translate - it looks like all that's available is an updated Zero Edit, not the firewire drivers, does anyone have a link to the actual driver download?

It was available on their support site, but as you might have noticed, on the page labelled something "DJ" (don't ask me what, I'm don't know any japanese

) only the Zero Edit was available...

The both of the drivers was released on the same date, that far I could remember, and tracking back I found this one:

It was available by selecting the item just above "TONEWORKS" from the drop down menu on the download page, and then clicking the button...

What I'm not sure of is whether this is a regional driver or if it works on any windows vista. As could be seen with the other tool they released last week I think the interface and similiar things would be in english, but as I said, I'm not sure...

i use the 1.1 version of the driver

i try to installed manually but it won't work

mi Zero appears as unknown device

i'll try with the compability mode but honestly i don't think that it'll work

because i'm able to install the driver but my system never found the Zero as it is

@ magebarf - cheers man, I'll give it a try. The way I look at it, I can't make things any worse, and once the driver is installed, who cares if it's in japanese??

The thing that gets me is that while it is working, the vista driver sounds great, and my latency in traktor is at 2.5ms, which is the lowest I've ever had it (even my PCIexpress card I used before the zero with T3 only got 5.5!).

Let's hope it works, or it looks like this weekend's task is installing XP as dualboot!

well, I gave it a try...

installation went without a hitch, and the installation (and control panel once it was installed) was actually in english.

Managed about 10 minutes mixing before I heard screeching though

So disappointed

Interestingly, Traktor Pro seems to work no problems, but I'm not happy with the sound quality from Pro yet (but that's not Korg's fault).

I know NI did a lot of work on the soundcard side of things between 3.2 and 3.3 though, I wonder if 3.3 will work any better. Anybody used XP drivers under vista with Traktor 3.3/3.4?

I'll give that a try this weekend, and if that doesn't work, looks like its time to install XP.

f*ck....

I had the bright idea of trying a different firewire cable, since I seem to remember there being a problem with one of the ones I have. Everything seemed to be working fine with the new driver, I was really pushing things, trying to make it screech. Anyway, things seemed to be going really well, when I jigged a bit too hard whilst dancing to a track, and yanked my external USB drive with all my music across the room.

I just tried mounting it again, and all I'm getting is clicking. Agh!!! I've stuck it in the freezer for a bit to see if that'll sort it out long enough that I can get my music off it (my last backup is somewhere in the states, so that's no good to me right now lol)

If that doesn't work, I think I might cry.

Well, the freezer trick managed to get 60% of my music back (90% of the music I actually wanted back tho, so it could have been a lot worse).

The hard disk I've manaed to get everything off onto though is firewire, and using that over the same bus as the Zero8 results in lots of scratchiness in the sound as music is pumped to the laptop, then audio back to the Zero over the same cable. Although not in TPro.

I've got a 500GB internal laptop HD in the post though, so I'm going to set that up with all my music on, so I don't need an external one any more, and also I'll try the Zero8 with XP, and see if that gives me any better results.
