M3 Editor - piano roll?

Post by shrike »

With it's first release, M3 Editor wasn't capable of editing songs, sequencer part of Editor served just to assign sounds to tracks and similar basic stuff, while the sequencer's editing functions weren't provided.

Is this changed with Xpanded? I mean, is the Editor expanded with new features too, does now sequencer mode in Editor offer full functionality, especially piano roll view provided on the machine itself?

Not interested in M3 Editor as plug-in, just standalone, if that matters.

Hi there,

No it doesn't - it 'only' allows you to edit and create Combi's and progs. There is no sequencer functionality.

The newest version apparently allows you to convert pre Xpanded combi's so they work with the new Xpanded voice layout, but I haven't personally tried that aspect out yet (I pretty much recreated them manually).

Hope this helps (and hope I'm right!).

Cheers.

I've just finished reading the manuals that are a part of the update download.

From the M3XP_SupplG_E.pdf;

(In reference to Track Editing within the sequencer)
"...By dragging in the display with your finger or a stylus,
you can specify a region of measures or move, copy, or
delete data. This allows a more intuitive style of
editing. ..."

(In reference to Piano Roll editing)

"...You can now edit notes, velocities, and control changes
in the Piano Roll screen. By selecting and dragging an
event with your finger or a stylus, you can edit its pitch
or timing, delete it, or add events...."

Hope this helps a bit.
