microKontrol fader replacement?

Post by muchachotron »

the eighth fader on my microkontrol has become really flaky. the flat metal part that comes out of the fader mechanism and holds the slider handle basically wiggled out of its socket. i was able to glue it back in, but it still seems really wobbly and inaccurate. i would definitely not rely on it for a live situation, but it is bad enough just trying to use the thing at home with that slider being so persnickety.

anybody know where i can get a replacement fader? i'm not afraid to get in there and solder one back in, i'm just not sure what kind of fader i need to get. doesn't need to be an official stock replacement part either, as long as it fits and functions properly. i'm in austin, tx.

I'm wondering the same thing. I have a fader where the post has come out completely and I can't get it to glue back in properly. And, in the process, I seem to have glued the fader cap to the post, so I'll need a new one of those too. Anyone know where to get these things?

Korg MicroKontrol - Faders wobbly

Post by upfront »

Same here.
I use it for live and home productions, and it does definitly not like travelling.

I lost 3 faders in two years now. Wondering where to get some new one and for how much.

Also if a special suitcase exist to carry it in planes or not.

cheers,

oof, the fader blade just popped out of the channel again. i'm probably not going to fix it this time, maybe will just start cannibalizing this damn thing for other uses. its a pity that this controller is so abandoned, was a great device, nothing else really like it (well, except for the much-bulkier kontrol49 -- i liked the tiny microkontrol cuz i can squeeze it anywhere into my setup)

update this thing instead of the repeated microkorg iterations, korg!

I've had this exact problem, and just hours before a gig! The fader post and cap has popped out. Doesn't look like anything's broken (neither the post or the 'socket' appear to be damaged).

Is there a trick to getting it back in? I can get it to sit in there, but it's not secure (ie I can wobble it about and pull it out quite easily - not ideal for a live situation for quick fader changes!!)

Cheers, anyone with any tips would be greatly appreciated

Microkontrol fader needs repair

Same problem for me too!

The whole of my Microkontrol's 4th fader's post and 'knob' has come off!

Looks like it should be able to just be fitted back in as no part of the metal looks like it's actually snapped off or anything. But I can't seem to find a way to do that and I'm a bit afraid to take the unit apart. I've been searching on Google for days and not found either a service manual to download, nor anyone showing/explaining how it can be fixed, which I'm surprised at.

Surely it must be a design weakness if half a dozen people (at least) describe the exact same problem happening spontaneously?!
