Hi all,
I recently got an old M3R expander off ebay and wanted to know if some of the M1 sounds in my legacy collection could be converted to use in the M3R.
Thanks for any help!

The Korg M1 is not compatible with the M3R from a system exclusive perspective, but you could look at the data in the Legacy software and program the M3R with the same as long as you are working with the same PCMs. I sell an M1 collection of sysex files with some M3R files included. Otherwise you will get into a lot of work programming individual sounds. If you reallyl like one on the M1 you may be able to emulate it on the M3R. Valhala for instance wrote sound files for both. They sounded very similar.

Thanks Steve!
I also just found this site: http://www.kinneticfx.com/korgmt/patches.htm
where someone has rewritten a lot of M1 sounds for the M3R with a sysex file calles M3R Morph. A lot of the original sounds are there, but not all due to the difference in architecture. For $ 12, it's a fair deal, and also the guy I bought the M3R from has several hundreds of sounds on a Cd...that should do for a while
