does anyone incasement moddings on the R3?

Post by DRGON60 »

hi everyone ..... :D

i´d like to give my R3 a more "vintage touch" and thought about fixing some wood panels on the sides (like on the old microKorg)...
has anybody had the same idea, and if , how can i do it ?

or perhaps KORG will give us an "upgrade-kit" to do it ourselves... :D

thx....

Hi Drgon60

You can get end panels here - http://customsynth.co.uk/html/end_panels.html though you would need to ask them if they do any for the R3. I have a feeling they might be pretty expensive so you might be better off making your own.

Looking at images of the R3, I'm not so sure putting wooden end panels on would be easy so a bit of DIY might be needed!

R3 wood panels

Post by adders »

Hello everyone, my first post...

I have an R3 and was thinking about making wood end panels.
If anyone has any tips on making your own panels for the R3 I would like to hear them. I have been in contact with custom synth and he doesn't currently make them although if he saw the synth he could make them. Not sure about pricing. I don't think it would be that difficult to do a DIY job on it. If I make them myself I will post the results up here. :)

R3 wood panels

Post by adders »

I took my R3 appart last night to see if it would be possible to drill holes in the sides without damaging anything. It looks like it won't be problem. I can't see it being too difficult to make side panels. If I can get hold of some nice wood, ie: walnut, mahogany or some other dark wood then I am going to do it. All I need is a Dremel, a jigsaw and an electric sander. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the wood, watch this space. If I can get enough wood, then yes I will make you a pair :)
