KLC v1.1 (challenge/response)

Post by tekara »

Hi guys,

I hope everyone is doing well. I have a few questions to ask, and before I do so, perhaps it would be better to explain the background to the situation.

I bought the KLC a few years ago. The box said it came with the MS-20 controller, but when I purchased it, the controller didn't come with it, so I got a discount on it. A year later, I bought an Intel-Macbook Pro, which I am still using at the moment. I checked for several hours trying to find the upgrade from the KLC to the UB version of the KLC. But at the time, Korg website said "they were going to work on one, please check back at a future date".

Okay, fair enough. So I waited for a whole year, and now when I check the Korg website, theres now a Korg Legacy Collection: Digital Edition, Korg Legacy Collecion: Analogue Edition, Korg Legacy Collection v.1.2, Korg Legacy Collection v.1.1, a KLC that only uses the challenge/response code, a KLC that now only uses USB key.

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!?!?! :)

My version is the KLC that came with challenge/response code. I registered for it under korguser.net and according to the website, the highest it goes is to the 1.1 update. It doesn't mention anything within the 1.1 FAQ that it is compatible with Universal Binary. I'll assume that it is not, and I will have to upgrade my old version to a later version. No problem! I am using Cubase 4, and I already have a USB dongle.

Inside the FAQ, I guess the most relevant question for me is:

"Yes, you can upgrade your KLC-1 to KLC-AE07 by one of following methods:

* Users who have already upgraded to KLC-1 v1.2 (copy protected via USB key)

You can purchase a "KLC-ANALOG EDITION 2007 Upgrade" at the KORG USER NET SHOP, then you can install the new license into your USB key.
* Users who haven't upgraded to KLC-1 v1.2 yet

If you already have a compatible USB key, first, please purchase the set of license for "KORG Legacy Collection (KLC-1) v1.2 Upgrade" and the "KLC-ANALOG EDITION 2007 Upgrade"

* If you don't have a USB key yet, you need to get it first.
Please read "Q7"."

I'm a bit confused. Since I already have a USB key, am I to purchase the KLC-Analog edition? I don't have v1.2 yet either, so does this mean I have to purchase "1.2 upgrade" instead? Or do I have to buy both? And If i wanted Mono/poly, how would I go abouts doing this?

Or do I not need to do any of this and just forget KLC altogether!

Thanks everyone!

This is your route. First, upgrade to v1.2 ($15). Then upgrade again to AE07 ($99).

Kind regards.
