Combi Problem

Post by Masterfo »

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum. I have a Korg M50 88.

I'm currently working with the combi named Galactic Journey which is one of my favorites. I recently just figured out how to add new sounds to the combis and mute them and solo them when I want while I'm playing.

The problem I'm having is when I import the sound I want to add, Subsonic War drums, (Through the Copy from Program option to avoid having to setup the points in which the sound is active) the effect seems a little less.. like theres less reverb or something that makes it fade out slower between notes and when I release them.. I'm not sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

The effects definitely go away when I add a program to the combi. Sometimes, that doesn't much matter, but sometimes it is critical. You can see what I mean by hitting the page select when you are editing the combis and looking at the IFX stuff. (Page 8)

Folks, is there any easy way to add programs and copy their effects into the combi?

I have to believe there is an easy way to do this. Am I missing it?

Ya, the LAST program you add, if you have the effects boxes check will be the effect used by the combi.

DON'T check the effects boxes in the pop-up window.. The previous effects will stay.

Then, if there is any open effect spots, go to the program your wanting the effect(s) from, save them as a preset, go into the new combi, setup the effect in an open spot, load the pre-set,,, rout the timbra to the effect(s),,, WALA,,, you got it!!!

How do I save the effects preset in a program in program mode and then apply them to the non effected program in Combi?

Thanks for the help, I'm really new to the whole combi editing thing.

"Save Preset" or "Write Preset" (something referring to save) from the drop-down menu in the up-most Right corner. I think it's the last choice on the drop-down.

Choose the Program, go into effects page, choose the effect, then do above..

REALLY simple,,, without reading the manual... Reading the manual,,, the M50 does ALL KINDS of cool stuff!

So I'm in program, and I press page select and go to the IFX page. I press the button on the top right hand corner, but the only options I have for saving are 'Write Program' and 'Copyor swap insert effect'

Can you please tell me the exact page to go to to save the preset?

Sorry for all the trouble.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

You have to first pick effect 1,2,3,4 or 5 at the bottom tabs.. Then it will be a choice.

Hard to remember off the top of my head, but trust me,,, it's there!

Okay, here is the process I used and it seems to have worked.

1. Go into combi mode
2. Add the program you want
3. Go into page select and choose "P8-1 (IFX Route 1)"
4. Click on top-right drop down
5. Select "Copy Insert Effect"
6. In the dialog box, select whichever program you want to copy from
7. In the dialog box, select which effects you want to copy (or click on the "ALL" box)
8. Go to "Route1 1-8" Tab. Click on the Bus(IFS/Output) Select for the program(s) you want to attach to the copied effects.
9. Use the data dial to switch it from "L/R" to the appropriate IFXn

Thanks for the help, studioman. Go Tribe! (I used to live in Cleveland)

Thank you all! I found the correct Insert effect and applied it to the combi and then to the program.

Now, is it possible to have two insert effects on one timbre, like in the program as well?

Yes, you can have multiple insert effects. The program I used has three or four effects as I recall. I don't know if you can copy two effects from two different and then apply them to the same combi. Give it a shot and let us know.
