What is wrong with my M50?
Here's an example of one of the weird things it does:

Hi there Troy.
I just tried to replicate the example you posted on youtube and had no such problem.
I have the 88-note M50 so I tried virtually the same in A minor - from bottom to top, then from top to bottom
(ie: using all 7 octaves) and, again, had no problem.
I noticed that you also posted on the 'hanging' thread,
and I am one of the (increasing number of) people who has experienced this.
Now - I am no expert, but it would appear that there is some problem on this
keyboard relating to the 'release', or 'key-off', command.
Korg, to my knowledge, have yet to respond to this issue, but due to these
sorts of things happening I would both hope for -and expect- a statement of some sort soon?
'Hang' in there, fella... (sorry about the dreadful pun!)

Going to try and replicate that problem right now....
Well I'll be damned, mine does EXACTLY what yours does Troy. I probably would have never played those notes in such a manner with that guitar program but it definitely shouldn't behave like that(atleast I don't think it should).
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I didn't try any other programs to see if it happens, have you?
Things that make ya go Hmmmmmmm

Midi matrix systems found outside of Area 51...
I am on dial up so too long to load UTube to hear, but from feeling I get from reading posts I believe you have found a flaw, or better, lack of flexibility in the midi implementation matrix system being used. If this is not happening in the M50 88, and only on this sound that’s a good sign and someone with time on their hands needs to see if a 61 key, 76, 88, controller midi input brings it out too since not showing on M50 88. Do you have access to another 61 key midi keyboard to try this? I know nothing about midi keyboard matrix systems and 10 days ago I would not even had a clue to guess on this issue….I’ve become interested in the key sensor system location in this line of thought….interesting....just what I was thinking about. This should be easy answer for Jerry. Matrix systems used are old stuff in the industry.
My guess, and only a guess is you tripped up the scan points just as I ran out of polyphony on my M1 when I got it and thought it had a problem. It did, only 16 voices: or I have too many fingers. Midi keyboard matrix systems consist of rows and columns of numbers to create the scan points and remember not liking the way they deal with time on one system I looked at….not at all TBH.
If I don’t like or understand something I just start over at the beginning…”Now class this is the key, you press it” ripping off information on the way back out to get it right. What I see, or don’t see rather, is “real time” being applied to anything ever built outside of Area 51.
I didn't know Dave Smith worked on the Phophet 5 and Korg Wave Station and just found out loooking at another matrix system....thank's.
John^^

OK...after viewing your video on Youtube, here's what I did: (I'm no expert)
I played prog C-53 as you did without any problem playing only one note at a time, but I experienced the same problem when I tried to play two notes at the same time; one note on the first octave (lower keys) and one note on the upper range...however there was no problem trying to play two notes on upper range of the keyboard!!! ...this looked like ring modulation. C-53 is monophonic so I went to page select P1 Basic/Ctrls and disabling Mono Legato made these ring mod sounds disappear.
Hope this help.

You're right that it made those sounds disappear, but the legato effect is an integral part of these sounds. It should be able to work with the legato on, IMO.Run wrote:OK...after viewing your video on Youtube, here's what I did: (I'm no expert)

There's a direct link to this forum on the main Korg website! so since these two problems (sequencer hanging notes and ring mod bug) seem to happen often enough, we should at least receive some replies from them !
I don't know if anyone having these problems have tried to initialize their machine as we often do to solve computer minor bugs with a reboot.....

I hope you're right.troyguitar wrote:I went back to Guitar Center today and got my money back. While I was there I tested the display model and it did the same thing.
I hope Korg fixes this, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Korg have got a good reputation when it comes to customer feedback
(that seems to the the general assessment)...
so let's hope we get some sort of 'statement of intent' soon?
It's not been forthcoming on this thread so far, but we can all live in hope???

Hi, I've sent an email to Korg hoping they will react to this issue.

"This is a link to Korg forum about two bugs that many of us, M50 owners have found: Ring modulations when playing many non polyphonic voices (legato) and hanging notes. I hope that you will post about these on Korg forum to at least give some information about it.
Thanks."
