Padkontrol - CC's# 097/098 Data Increment/Decrement?

Hi guys,

i'm trying to find a way to smooth out or fine-tune knobs 1 & 2 on padkontrol for a smoother operation. People told me i could accomplish this by using these CC's 097/098 but i don't know what i'm supposed to do, i'm reading the manual and hunting online for tips.

let me put it in perspective: let's say i'm using a Filter plugin, and i'm controlling the Filter Cutoff with Knob 1.. but each little twist i make it's WAY TOO MUCH, the filter cuttoff goes from 4,812hz to 6,523hz.. the knobs are sending too much data! i needed to get this smaller like 100hz to 100hz steps and not in 1.700hz to 1.700hz steps LOL!

Is there a way i could make knobs 1 / 2 work in small steps? i hope you understand what i mean! sorry for my bad english!
