Main L/R Outputs are scratchy

Post by brumbynw »

I bought a very used Korg Triton ProX and I wonder if it needs a cleaning or not. If I choose certain sounds like "piano," and turn the volume of the keyboard half way or more, I hear a little distortion or scratchy sound. I have checked other channels in my mixer and they are all the same.

This scratchy sound is not in the headphone output. I would assume it is dusty but my Korg X2 has a similar problem of volume overload, although it is much worse in the Triton. Any tips?

Also, are there any newer piano samples available other than the stock ones?

Thanks,

*OR*

the volume slider needs cleaned with contact cleaner/lubricant. That's my FIRST guess...

If the headphone output has no problems, you have no problems until halfway up the volume slider, and a similar problem exists with another board, my first check would see if you're clipping.
