Okay, if you'd like to help out a noob, read on.
I can't seem to transfer my bank edits that I've configured on my r3.
When I try and receive all data, I get a device inquiry error.
When I try and receive a specific program, such as A3, I get "Failed to receive A3"
ideas?
Unfortunatley, my r3 never came with a software manual, & I couldnt find the support on the net, so help would be appreciated.
can someone help me with the software editor?

Speaking of the Sound Editor
Is there someway to preview the changes that are being made to the synth programs when using the sound editor? I'm not sure I see the benefit of using the software if I can't hear the changes I'm making.
Am I missing something here?

Yes, you can preview the sounds and the changes you are making. This is how I do it:David_H wrote:Is there someway to preview the changes that are being made to the synth programs when using the sound editor? Once you have your R3 connected (make sure to turn write protection OFF) and editing software running, just press the "write" button on the R3 (only once!) and open up a sound for editing in the software. Now just press keys to hear the sound that you have in the editing buffer. You can edit the sound in real-time and next time you press a key, the edit will be pushed.
Hope this helps.

You guys rock! Thanks for the tip!

This is a bit misleading/confusing. why are you pressing write?collias wrote:Yes, you can preview the sounds and the changes you are making. connect the R3 before you open the editor.
as soon as you click on a sound in the editor it is sent to the R3 edit buffer.
if you press write on the R3 then you will write that program that is selected into the current slot (not the slot selected in the editor, but the slot that the R3 is on, if you've just powered on then A01). obviously that is useful because you can navigate to a location, then click the patch you want to load, and hit write on the R3. (hitting write in the editor will write it to the slot selected into the editor in relation to the library, not the slot that is selected on the R3 - I think).
it is also handy because the changes are two-way (assuming you have your ins and outs set up right!) if you have your R3 handy and you need to make some adjustments whilst hearing the sound, or you just need something more tactile, adjusting the settings on the R3 will also adjust the patch selected in the editor. obviously this is dangerous if you are just auditioning sounds - if you play around with the controlers you will want to make sure that you don't save changes otherwise it will remember the settings you adjusted when you next load that library.
