A call to Keith Emerson - your Yamaha GX1 Programs please!!
There's no substitute to being blunt and straight up...
...To all powers that be with the Korg and Keith emerson camps:
From the following article:
http://www.korg.co.uk/artists/keith_emerson.asp
...it appears that Yamaha GX1 patches have been programmed for Keith Emerson' OASYS by his programmer(s).
It would be excellent to avail of even a subset of of some of these. Any chance of sharing some of these with the OASYS community?
thanks,
Kevin.

As far as I am aware, Keith does no longer own a GX1.
The black painted one (filmed on Montreal 77 video) is in my studio, the white one (ex Led Zeppelin, seen on the black moon video too) was sold to Hans Zimmer who later sold it to an american gentleman Bill S.
I have some original cartridges and I believe many others of them followed the white GX1 (along with more working boards and the MIDI kit installed).
It would be interesting to know if the sound designers really "met" the GX1, to shape the sounds for Oasys.
I have not been contacted, altough Will Alexander (who I don't know if still works with Keith anymore) knows about my GX1.
Keith also knows about it, but we only briefly met one time and he surely does not remember me at all.

Hi Andy -
Enjoy the gig - that sounds like it'll be great. Keith Emerson is a wizard on keyboards so seeing / hearing him up close should be a fabulous experience. No harm in poping the question for sure. Even one or two sounds - just to hear/feel/play the sort of dynamics he uses in his programs and hence what he experienced form the GX1 would be a wonderful education and experience if nothing else.
Best of luck!!
Cheers,
Kevin.

I met him back stage when ELP did their Canadian tour, he's a fantastic guy and told me all about his gear and set up while on tour at the time.

David Kerzner (aka Squids) also did the same for Tony Banks.
He sampled a lot of Tony's old keyboard stuff and put it into Oasys.
Being a true Genesis fan (and a very good keyboard tribute player with the band Giraffe) I believe David came up with an amazing work.
It would be very nice if he and Korg could find an agreement.

For some time I toyed with the idea to recreate the sounds of the Arp ProSolist with the VA synths of the Oasys. I own a Arp Pro DGX which is identical soundwise. But I figured out that I would need the Polysix or MS20 engines for some of the sounds with more filter resonance to get them right. Tony Banks used those sounds with heavy portamento and unfortunately there is no portamento for the Polysix and only an uncommon portamento implementation for the MS20 (which is also true for the original MS20). So I thought I wait until Korg would improve the portamento for the Legacy engines. After all, I thought that they also would find it weird that the other engines have multiple portamento options and those which are most suitable for classic analog style lead sounds don’t have them. But now it doesn’t make sense to wait anymore.
