Radias-R still $999 retail in the USA - um why?

Post by granted »

It's really bugging me. Why hasn't the price dropped?
What is really annoying is that I have a corporate account with a New York dealer and I can get most thing close to cost EXCEPT KORG ITEMS.
For instance I can get a new Virus TI2 desktop for 1,573.20.
I sold my EMX-1 because I couldn't stand the "desktop" form factor. I don't have a lot of desktop space.
I want the Radias-R because I can rack it. And I like the "Korg" VA sound. Now I know the Radias and Virus are apples and oranges but heck for less than $600 dollars wouldn't you get the Virus? Is the Radias-R really a $1000 synth?

Most people can't get a Virus for cost, so your situation is different.

I bought my Radias-R for $700 when GC blew them out. I had hesitated at $1000 but I'm a tightwad and usually buy my gear used.

Used Radias-R can be bought for $6-700.

I worked at GC briefly and purchased the floor model with my GC discount. Thats the only way I could have afforded it, or any synth for that matter. I'd love a Virus too, but I think they too much money into aesthetics to keep the price high.

HI,

it depends maybe on the style of music.

For me using the Radias live and for funk music the Radias is for me a lot superior over the virus.

FYI: In germany the radias (rack) is still at 999 EUR.

Bye, Dirk.

Um, because it's worth it? :D

I didn't get any special pricing or discounts, and while everybody wants a bargain, I'm just thrilled with my Radias-R.....and even happier with my M3-61.... 8)

Would that price be shipped? If so, I desperately need a RADIAS keyboard.
