Korg PA2X Newbie Piano Sample Questions

Post by Dmkeys »

Hi all,

I'm new to arranger keyboards and am trying to decide if I should buy the Korg PA2X Pro. A friend of mine has a spare that he's selling at a good price.

In general, I like the idea of having an arranger board for certain types of gigs. However, I'm finding that, although I like the sound of the PA2X in arranger mode, I'm not loving the solo piano and EP sounds when played in sound mode.

Since I'd likely need to sell one of my other boards to pay for this, I'd like to be able to use the PA2X on some band gigs/cocktail gigs, where I need a great solo piano, solo electric piano, and some great bass sounds to setup with these as a split for those situations where I have to cover left hand bass.

So, I'm wondering about the availability of piano, Rhodes, and bass samples for the PA2X. Is anyone here using these successfully? Any recommendations of which libraries to look at?

Thanks for the help!

You don't like the piano's and Epiano's?????? Strange, I think, but it's all personal, they sound great. But you can always edit them to your likings, ad some different FX's, EQ's or whatever.
Best regards

What a load of crap! !

The Steinway piano I created and posted for free has no looped samples whatever. Each note is individually recorded and not looped. If there is a criticism, it is that the samples were recorded by the University of Iowa in a concert hall so it is not possible to remove the natural reverb recorded with the samples. The samples are used by permission from the University of Iowa so long as there is no charge made for them.

I posted a demo along with the samples on the Irish Acts download server. If your Steinway piano is so brilliant why not post a recording of it somewhere for us all to listen to? Why the cloak and dagger secrecy?

I suspect your $50 piano is a ripped off copy because I never heard from you on this forum until now. To prove me wrong please answer the following questions?

Where did you record your samples, are they stereo, what is the name of the multisamples, and which OSC's did you assign the samples to? Which trigger values did you assign for multilayer triggering? How did you trigger the effect of the sustain pedal?

Unless you can post accurate answers to these questions I will ask Sharp to delete your account on this forum for piracy.

Regards,
Rob Sherratt

I figured as much too and didn't contact the above poster.

I've now downloaded your piano and it's a definite improvement for my purposes.

Do you (or anyone here) know of other options that would work on the PA2X? They needn't be free.

I'm also looking for a good vintage Rhodes and bass sounds.

No I don't think he knows any of that, but I have to give him the chance to prove or disprove that he is legitimate. You can't go accusing people of being criminals and cancelling their forum membership unless there is proof. However if he can't answer those questions then he didn't do the work, and he's illegally selling the "free" Steinway piano either produced by Alex and Reuben on the Pa1x or the one produced by me on the Pa2x.

Best regards,
Rob

It would have to be unbelievably amazing at $50 for me to even consider it..... but wait a minute

I already have amazing piano sounds thanks to Rob S, Reuben, Sharp ...etc.. etc... so I'll spend the $50 on my wife so that I can feel more justified when I talk to her about the "M3" .......

However, I am fascinated so please make an MP3 sample available.....

Rob's Piano

Post by mercergate »

Dear Rob. I just downloaded your piano set and installed it. Thank you so much! You alone make owning a Korg Pa2X a much more enjoyable experience. The pianos sound superb. I can't wait to use them on a recording. The Stienway is so real it's gave me goosebumps when I tried my old recital piece, Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata on it. We users can't thank you enough for all the time you put in it. The RX 2 saved me a lot of time also. Korg should send you money every month.

That's very kind and thank you very much - it's receiving good feedback that makes it worthwhile for me. I think it also encourages other people to share their work and that's great for the whole community. No need for money - I enjoy being broke

Best regards,
Rob
