Korg Plugin in Logic 7

Post by lwasnesky »

So I just got an x50, and want to use it with Logic. I've searched and couldn't find an answer to this question.

I can assign a software instrument to a track using the X50 plugin without issue. However I can't create another instrument track with the X50 plugin. I'm assuming at this point that this is normal. If this is the case, how could I use all 16 available tracks within logic? This is assuming I have the mode set to "Multi" on the X50. I'm thinking that I just use normal MIDI tracks and make sure the appropriate channel for each is set (1-16) and set up the instruments within the plugin.

I'm well aware that sound will only come out of the X50 unless I plug it in through my DAC and effectively bounce it to an audio track, so I'm perfectly clear on that.

Thanks!

not sure on the specifics on logic but you have to set it up kind of like a 'send bus' in logic.

in cubase for example, instead of loading the plugin to an instrument track, you load it into the device rack, and then create normal MIDI tracks with different channels, setting their track routing output to the MIDI input for the VST. as I said, a bit like you would do for a send bus reverb or delay FX with audio.
It is similar in logic but I don't own it (only use it at uni), so I can't tell you the exact names of what to look for

I have essentially the same question. I have a new M50, which is great. I also have Logic Express and I'm trying to sequence on that as the piano roll is really helpful. (there isn't a piano roll on the m50, right???)

I can load up a single track with the editor plugin, but I'm trying to figure out how to set up external midi tracks to control individual instruments on the m50. I can create external midi tracks but I can't figure out how to assign them to the right channels...any logic people know how to do this?
Thanks

That's very basic Logic usage.. I always create a software instrument track with the MicroX plugin and then use regular MIDI tracks to control the X50. You can change the port and channel in the preferences of the MIDI tracks.
