Korg nanoPAD, Driver issues? Hardware Malfunction?

Post by Brokentubes »

Hello everyone at Korg forums, about a week back I purchased the Korg nanoKEY. I love it, so obviously I wanted to buy the whole set. So today I went out and bought the Korg nanoPAD. Once everything was installed, I realized that only pads 7 through 12 seem to work... and pads 1 through 6 don't.. If I press two of them at once they seem to work, if I press down REEEAALLY hard they work.. What seems to be the problem?

I'm using Reason 4, and Albeton live 8

Nanopad keys 1 to 6 Dead

Post by shabaz »

Hi just got my Nano Kontrol last week. Works great.Decided to get Nano Keys and Nano Pad. Nano Keys work fine. Nanopad Pads 1 - 6 dont work. Pads 7 - 12 do work but pad 8 - 9 seems to trigger the same snare sound. Tried the KORG MIDI USB Driver, but as I am using Macbook Leopard, I cannot check if it being used or just the laptops MIDI drivers. ALso tried the KORG Controller editor with no results. There is no actual MIDI signal spike coming into Garage Band when pads 1 - 6 are pressed. However there is a MIDI spike when pads 7- 12 are hit.

Logged onto Korg Forum and apparently HEAPS of people from around the world are having problems with these units.
Should I exchange the unit with an AKAI LPD8 ? (only 8 pads), or just return the lot of them and get something better?

The first time I am unhappy with KORG products...

Same problem I am having with mine. Although, pads 8 and 9 are triggering the same snare sound due to the same sound been on 2 different channels as standard (novation drum station does this by default) so thats expected.

This is my second pad and both are doing the same.

I just got all 3 nanos and started with nanopad.

In Reason 5 and Cubase 5 (opened seperately) none of the pads work until a read this. I pressed down REEEAALLY hard and the pads work on the Kong drum designer. So I think the pads cant connect properly to the triggers unless there is alot of pressure.

The nanokey works great in Reason 5 with kong

I went to the store to try to change the product after reading several horror reviews all over the world and seeing people trying to patch the nanopad with sticking tape and cardboard. The storer were happy to take it bake as apparently other buyers have been returinging theirs. In fact the new unit in the store I tried was even worse off, only the XY pad worked.
Exchanged with the AKAI LP8 pad. Briliant product! Great action, wortks straight away and solid! Also change the nanokeys with the KORG MicroKey. Also a great product.
