Korg Pa500 output level is too weak!

Dear Friends,

I have noticed that the Korg PA500 has a weak output level when connected to a mixer. My mixer's gain was @ +10db higher than normal and still not enough power. Has anyone experienced the same issue with the Pa500 output level?

Hi AK. Is your jack lead damaged internally, been trod on or pinched at all?
I know that seems to be an obvious thing but does happen.
Try the same jack lead from your headphone socket see if the same result. Try another lead.
Are you using Stereo or mono jacks?
Are the keyboards own speakers at normal volumes?

Thanks for your reply. The issue has to do with the PA500 output. I have the best cables and none of them ever gave me any issues with the volume level.

It is not just me reporting this issue but many people in this forum and even in the German forum that I have visited today complained about the weakness of the main-output of the Pa500.

Let us see if Korg will read this thread and maybe might have an answer.

I wonder why Paolo hasn't commented on this issue?

Seems like a real engineering problem to me.

How have many of you gotten around it without adding any signal noise (keeping the current signal to noise ratio)?

According to the German forum, someone from Korg said, " it is what it is in the Korg Pa500 and asked people to get Pa2x or Pa800 if they wanted a better output level." MMM...this is not a solution.

PA = Professional Arranger.

I am sure Korg will do something about it even if they can do it in the new OS upgrade.

Just give a bit more gain on your mixer, that's not a big deal...that's exactly where the knob is for. To adjust different output levels of different instruments.

This is an important issue. I think Korg should look into it.

AK,

The issue is almost certainly the balanced-unbalanced interface connection you have created resulting in 50% loss in signal plus addition of distortion and unwanted resonance at certain frequencies. You can easily resolve it - just like other Pa500 owners have done - if you follow the advice on the thread here:

Hence PA500, for stronger output there is PA800 and 2X
and thats why Korg will never look into it, its not an issue.

This is not a real solution. In fact, the PA500 does have a weak signal and it has nothing to do with balance or unbalance signal.

Yes, I did. Just to let everyone know that Korg does know about the issue and the Engineers sent the issue to Japan.
