Velocity Curves On M3

Post by samoo451 »

A while back user Wild Blue Sea had a post about M3 73 velocity curves not being responsive enough.
I finally have been getting to gig with my M3 61 and so far I might agree with him.
I have tried velocity curves 1-9 (mostly settled on 4 and 9) and what I`m finding is that particularly with the piano sounds, I feel like I never get to the full 127 midi velocity level even when I really spank the notes hard.
In fact, when I play just as hard on my Nord Electro 2 (my setup is an M3 on the bottom and Nord E2 on top played through a Traynor K4) the Nord REALLY barks when attacking either a piano or Rhodes sound..

So the question is, can I really do anything major to the M3 piano patches to let the piano sounds sing out more than they seem to be doing ?
I`m not considering using a weighted controller to fix this problem-I already bring enough equipment to a gig..

The M is so deep in so many ways that this one issue would really make the package almost perfect for me anyway..
Thanx 4 any help in advance...a bit disappointed after the gig tonight....
PS, I have an EX M3 running OS 2.0

There is a very nice Grand Piano available for the M3 from Irish Acts recording studio - www.irishacts.com, search for Korg M3 in the shopping basket. I think it costs 25 Euros payable online. The piano is much more touch responsive than the factory pianos.

Best regards,
Rob

Thanks for that tip. I wish their demo was a little better but it does sound pretty good. I will need to get the 256 RAM to use that. I should have it anyway..
Still curious about programming my way around the issue.

After watching that tutorial I was able to add a lot more sensitivity to the piano patch by tweaking the crossfade levels as well as other amp section related tweaks.
Really enjoying the M. I only wish I knew where all the sounds were while on a gig. There are so many sounds ( and goods ones) that it will take a while to get comfortable with accessing them.
I did set up custom program and combi banks to make it easier as well as having a cheat sheet taped to those side thingies ( on the left and right of the module,) perfect for a small sheet with favorite patches written on it.
