Korg PA2X and Bose Systems

Post by hammer »

I come from a Yamaha background and might ask a few "dumb" questions before I get my feet on the ground with my new 2X.

Is there anyone on the forum using the PA2X with any of the Bose L1 systems? If so, what EQ settings have you found work best for your situation?

I use both the Bose L1 compacts and a Bose Classic L1 and wondered if there has to be any "tweaking" of either the Classic or the keyboard to get a well matched sound.

Hi Hammer,
I use the L1 Mark2 on certain gigs with the PA800 & the PA1x-Pro. I'll send you my settings during the week & give you my opinions in general.

I went to a bose showcase, and tried some of their L1 systems. I'm thinking about getting L1 model II. It's overpriced, but still I want to have it! I talked to a friend who's actually been using them in live shows. He said they're very weak in bigger places. He said he's used a pair of L1 model II and still he had a hard time to get that punchy sound to the dance floor, especially if there's a band of 4 or 5 people playing. Most reviews say the same thing pretty much. But one thing that he was really impressed with was the fact that the sound they produce is crystal clear , hardly any feedback, and the sound fills up the room so evenly. He said they're nothing like traditional loud speakers that when you get close to them, make your ears bleed. They're just as loud everywhere in the room without making you cover your ears when you get close to them. I already have a JBL set up (with a pair of JBL Eon and their subs). Most of the time though, I'm only playing background dinner music, and that's when i'd like to use a Bose system. I was also thinking what if i used them both together in some larger venues. But that might just defeat the porpuse of using the bose system? I dont' know man, I might just buy it, try it, and if it didn't do it for me, just return it?

Please share your experience, if you've used them in Live situations. The one i'm interested in, is L1 model II, with 2 Subs.

Ok Paul, you gotta spit out some information for us then. Unfortunately, there's no way to audition the system in the dealer showcase to its full potential, because it's way too small. I'm very curious to find out how loud this system is in a place that could hole up to 300 people. You know like the size of an average banquet hall.
My seconnd question is, what kind of music do you play when using this system?
