Using USB(B) connection to communicate with PC for midi

Post by jeffkluth »

Hi - This is new for me and I was under the impression that you could send midi information to the TE from your computer via the USB connection.

I've installed the correct driver and I do see Triton Extreme from the Audio Devices tab , but when I click on the M drive I get a message to please insert disk..

Basically I want to use Cakewalk on my PC and use the TE as my sound generator. Thought I could do this with the USB connection but so far I dont think they are communicating.

Do I need to go back to midi in/midi out connections ?

Thanks very much, Jeff

You can access the M drive when your Triton Extreme is in USB Storage Mode

I use my Triton Extreme with Cakewalk.make sure it is connected to the pc first before running Cakewalk application.configure the Midi Devices in Cakewalk.

Korg USB B connection / trying to open .MID files on TE

Post by jeffkluth »

jocko thanks for the reply. How do I get into USB Storage Mode ? When I am in the Media Mode all I am able to select is my Flash Drive..

Also this a little off the subject bit I have many .MID files but when I tried to open them on the TE from a USB thumb drive , the TE would not allow it.. Do I need to convert these to a .SMF file somehow in order for the TE to open them - or should you be able to open .MID files on the TE ? Thanks very much

I'm having a similar issue. I'd like to use the Triton's USB B port for live midi communication with SONAR. I have the newest midi drivers installed and they appear in Device Manager, but in SONAR the Triton doesn't show up as a midi device. Thanks for any advice!
