D12 with External USB Drive?

D12 with External USB Drive?

Have a D12 and want to connect a more modern, USB external drive to add capacity. The current connector on the D12 for external drives is the 50-pin SCSI. I have seen 50-pin SCSI to USB adapter cables, but their documentation implies that they're usually used to connect something like an older SCSI image scanner to the USB port on a computer. Would this type of cable enable me to accomplish what I want to do? If not, any other suggestions?
