Hi, i wonder if any users here are using the XMS64 with PA800 and if you can answer some doubts and questions i have about it please.

Hi ruifa, I believe that if you listen to the Deebach Xanadu you will get some idea of the samples that are with the XMS64 styles package.. The majority of the styles are from pa1x with some optimisation's to those style's. If the samples are not loaded then voices are missing in some of the styles. That's what information I have picked up on the web. Hope that help's but just listen to the Demo's on youtube. I'm sure you will be impressed..

To answer your question, the short answer is 'No' I'm afraid. Styles that have been tweaked/altered in pa2x/800 latest OS are not backwards compatible. Some of the earlier pa800 styles could be converted though. However, PA1x styles can be converted backwards using commercial software 'EMC Styleworks' but the results are not always very good. I did some conversions a short while ago for another Member and some worked to a reasonable standard others did not. Hope that's of help to you...

Hi Lee, I believe that the XMS64 package is the same as that of the Xanadu. It includes all the samples that are demonstrated on the website. I know that it creates enhancements to the OS one of which is XG and GS Midi file compatibility. The creator 'Mr Dee' is the demonstrator for the Xanadu.

Might be a good idea to give them a quick ring to make sure. I would love this system myself but out of range at the moment. Maybe later but I would buy it in good faith of it being the same as the Xanadu. Perhaps other's may know for sure....

I hope I am not missing the point, but this it seems to me is a new piece of software which will provide new resources to the keyboard. It will provide new sounds (colours) etc BUT how many of us actualy use ALL the resources which are available in our present keyboard?

I have come to the conclusion that I am a techno freak, ( not really) Yes I like to keep up with what is available, at a reasonable cost, BUT, have I explored all the capabilities of my existing equipment, NO. I have changed many keyboards , mostly KORG but have never explored /used the full capabilities of those keyboards, and I am sure there are many others like myself.

My sugestion is this (and this applies to me) search, explore/experiment with the keyboard you have and you will discover many things you can do which you didnt think possible. If like me your hearing is not as good as it used to be, why pay for sounds (which technically may be perfect) which you ears may not be able to tell the difference.

Go through the manual, don't stop half way through, read it front to back, it is hard it may not make sense initialy but why pay a lot of money for a keyboard and not realize its full potential.

So yes this piece of software sounds good, it may be good, but are you ready for it. Go on , experiment with what you have got and when you have reached/ understand the keyboards limitations , move on.

Please be assured I am not against this software, it seems expensive, but not as expensive as a new keyboard.

I am convinced I am not a techno freak
