Pumpkin King - September 09

Post by Pumpkin King »

Ok, I know I haven't uploaded many songs in awhile, but I managed to at least get one done now. And I'll have it count for September because I expect to have at least two more songs done this October.

This song is just an improvised jam done with my piano teacher who is playing the guitar while I play the piano. The recording isn't really mastered or anything like that, but it is what it is. It was recorded with a Zoom H2.

I'm getting a Mahavishnu vibe here, luv them, and this is nice to listen to. I like the feel and the movement. For 'just a jam' this is really very beautiful to listen to and enjoyable. The recording isn't bad either, considering you've just recorded it and posted as is. I wasn't even going to post an Oct song as this forum is dead in the water. But now you've started me up again and I'll post my Oct song, why not. Maybe there is still some interest at the Old KF.

Thank you Stephen and George. :)

And George, I'm glad to hear that you'll post up your song for this month. I should be able to have two done for this month. In fact, I already have one song finished, but I think I'll wait and post it up with the other song that I almost have done later.

Hi Pumpkin King

I really enjoyed this - so glad you posted this. It is great to hear what just "comes out" in an improvisation. I felt I could just dream along with this and had to resist the temptation to join in :)

Thank you Dee.

My teacher and I are starting to record some more of our jams, so I may post another one up eventually.

HOLY s**t!...this melted my face off. This is infused at times like..perfection...its almost un-understandable. I can listen to this over and over. This is layered and diverse enough that you can have favorite parts that will most likely change over time.

I cant wait to get home and get this on to my speakers..(im listening on my laptop computer)

I found out today that my teacher passed away at the age of 50 this past spring. I had no idea. He was a great friend and an exceptional musician.

We always used to jam during my piano lessons. Fortunately I got to record this.

My condolences to you Pumpkin King, it is sad news to hear of your loss, my keyboard lecturer passed away last year and I too had a great time in his class. He was also a great musician, a huge prog rock fan and we'd sit and talk for ages about ELP, Yes, Genesis, I still miss him, he was a great man.

Thanks guys.

I've never jammed with anyone as well as I could with Alan. Every time I improvised on the piano, he would just follow along on the guitar as if he knew what I was going to play next. I wish we could've recorded more, or played live in front of people. He was always bringing that up. But we never got a chance. I had college classes to concentrate on.

He was a great guy. Very supportive of me.

@joe Sorry to hear that. My condolences to you as well.
