I'm going mad...

As the title suggests, anything goes in this section.

I'm going mad...

Post by Lorenzo »

What do you think about going mad with music? do happened something similar to anyone of us? Get stuck with a single song looped again and again for hours and realize that you're you'redoing something really wrong... but you can't do anything about it and still get stucked with that song? This never happened to me in the past, I had some song I used to listened a few hours in loop but never happened to me to get stucked more than one day... HELP!

Ahhhh, Lorenzo.. I've spent ages putting together little ditties, hours and hours perfecting them, thinking it was sounding like nothing else before... Then listening to it the next day with fresh ears and thinking "what the heck is this? it sounds awful!".

Sometimes you get so tied up within one thing you forget to stand back and listen to it in context. And instead, without knowing it, your ears get tired and you lose objectivity and end up obsessing and making wrong decisions over irrelevant minutiae.

A common event that many musicians experience.

Brian Eno's fantastic [Oblique Strategies] can often serve to help with these mental blocks.

there was a little misunderstanding here... I'm not talking about a piece of music of mine but a real song of another artist that I just listen to!
Well I don't put here the link to the youtube version because I don't won't this to happen someone else!

That happens to me all the time... that's when i stick on a COMPLETELY different style song, get up, make a cup of coffee or something and then get back to working on it. You just need to refresh your ears a little.

In the US, we call those tunes that get stuck in your head and just won't leave "earworms".

I've had them bad at times. Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U" got stuck in my head once FOR MONTHS (this was a long time ago, when it was first released). The Who's "Teenage Wasteland" is another one that will just decide it wants to play in my head for long periods of time.

I don't particularly like either of those songs. But they seem to have an affinity for me. Yes, these things can make you crazy. :-)
