Hi All,
I am new here, and just learning how to play the keyboard in general. I love to play around with the M50, my first keyboard in about 25 years. I just want to learn how to play the keyboard, but I love to thinker around. So, after some research and lots of viewing of youtube, I picked the M50.
I have couple of questions about combi and loudness (not loud enough on right side).
I pick a preset combi, almost any of them (mostly at the top of the list, using the increament value switches), I have the drum and ARP switches on and I play a chord on the left hand and hear the drum pattern playing (very nice drums) very loudly. On the right hand side, I play some notes, but I can't hardly hear anything sound. The drum and arp sound would drown out everything, especially when turn up about 1/2 on the master volume.
When I go into the mixer and mess around with the sliders (bring down the volume of the drum tracks and bass), then I would be able to hear something.
Why is it that the preset combis have the drum/bass (left hand side) volume set so high that and lead playing can't hardly be heard? Is here something wrong with my M50?
Any information is appreciated,
Sonny

Hi,
I don't think there's anything wrong with your synth, just the way Korg programmers worked on those presets. Thank God you can overwrite all of them if you wish. (some are really unbalanced as you've said)

Presets are there to make you buy the instruments. They are not supposed to be used when you play
Seriously, the best thing to do is to find somethink you like and tweak the parameters. A large portion of the presets are hyped with lowend, compression and effects. Back off a little on those, and the sounds can be used in a real context without filling the entire sound scape.

Same thing I noticed Sonny eg. on the Towards the Sun combi you can barely hear a thing when playing the right side of the keyboard and you cannot increase the volume of the lead synth in the mixer as its already set at the highest level
Lowering Arps and Drums doesn't help much either. Some of the combi's are designed better than others I guess so mess around until you get one that has a good mix across the keyboard range.
