Hello,
brand new here so why not kick off with a stupid question...
how do i enable the Korg R3 as a MIDI controller in Ableton Live 8? There are a bunch of possible control surfaces in the MIDI sync preferences window but the R3 is not in the list and i don't know how to set it up so i can select it and use it as a controller.
Any help appreciated.

Using R3 as MIDI controller in Ableton Live 8
How are you connecting the R3? Via USB or MIDI? If MIDI the name of the MIDI interface that you are using will show up. If USB I believe it will say R3. Once you turn on the settings you want in Ableton. Depending if you are want MIDI In, Out, or Both and if you want to activate remote control. Then on the R3 go through the menu and turn Local Control to OFF. It is the second from the left of the 4 parameter knobs to menu knob on Page 42 of the Menu. Once you turn the Local OFF, write the global settings to save Local OFF as a default if you plan on using the R3 as a MIDI controller most of the time. I use my R3 in Ableton to control the synths on my EMX-1, my Radias, and Reason. All on different MIDI channels in Ableton.
