Decisions, decisions...

Post by paulierocks »

I'm just getting my feet wet in the electronic music ocean and I'm ready to go waist deep, but not quite ready to dive in. I have an older laptop with an AMD 1.8 GHz processor so I'm looking into older versions of DAW software. I'm eyeballing SONAR Home Studio 7 and I have some questions.

First, let's say I like it and I decide to get a new computer later on. Will I have any licensing problems if I want to put it on the new computer?

What I want it for mainly is editing audio/MIDI data, sequencing, and mixing; is this sufficient? It appears to be.

Does anyone have any gripes with Cakewalk products, or just THIS one? I've been looking at it because my first synth was an SH-201, and I figured the two would play well together, but I just picked up an R3, which I'm pretty impressed with, so if anyone has a better suggestions I'd be glad to hear them.

Thanks!!
